Newsletter December 2007

Our September Newsletter advised you that the new revision to the Australian Standard for "Alarm transmission Systems" AS2201.5 will soon be released.  In addition Telstra has now announced the closure of the Securitel Network in December 2009.

Don't be fooled.... these are both major changes

This updated standard will affect the classifications of many existing transmission systems currently being offered to the Security Industry and portrayed as high security solutions.  We estimate that more than 95% of these products will be severely downgraded in this new standard to Class 2 ... virtually the same as a dialler.

MCM's E21 IP solution (see configuration below) will solve both the new standard and the Securitel closure issues...

MCM will shortly release this E21 IP solution that is easy to install, high security, has triple redundant paths and is easy to retrofit ...the IPSTU has the same connections and mounting (the same footprint) as MCM's serial Securitel STUs .

As MCM was a member of this Australian Standards committee,  we are very aware of the new standard requirements. MCM's new  E21 IP solution is expected to meet the requirements of the new standards for Class 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 but with easy installation for the unskilled installer.

With forward thinking, we have been working on the development of our  E21 IP Solution for over 2 years.

........ Some of our engineers seem to live here.

In developing new solutions to meet these revised standards MCM has kept in mind that these new products (mainly IP based) will be sold into an industry that is not "IP savvy".  Most alarm companies have only a few IP Gurus (one if you're lucky) that can sort out networking problems.

The IPSTU is the same size as MCM's existing serial STUs and looks like this......

There are many things happening in the Security Industry as you can see with the imminent release of the new standards and the closure of the Securitel Network in December 2009.  These events will add increased opportunity and add a great deal of pressure to move to an alternative simple, yet powerful "new technology" solution that meets the new standards.  This is likely to increase your normal business activities !

Good Luck and we hope you can take advantage of this opportunity.

All the staff at MCM would like to take this opportunity to offer you and your family a MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY and SAFE NEW YEAR.

We thank you for your custom this past year and look forward to providing you with all your security needs in 2008.

MCM will be open most days over the Christmas break, only closing for the afternoon of 20th December and on the Public Holidays (25th and 26th of December 2007 and the 1st January 2008).   Please contact the office as normal for Tech support, placing orders and general inquires for the remaining time over the Christmas and New Year period.

Again, have a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and a SAFE and HAPPY NEW YEAR........

Take Care
