Newsletter October 2008.1a

Hi all,

In late July Emizon with its Partners MCM and Optus held two seminars and Launched Emizon's Global 21 Service ... the first secure, managed, dual-path  signalling service designed specifically for new digital networks.

At these presentations were Banks and Large Corporates, Monitoring Centres and Installers.

The main topics covered were .....

- Securitel Closure and Emizon's Global 21 solution.

- Broadband Fibre rollout and the effect of the alarm industry.

- 3G GSM rollout and the benefits to the security industry.

- The Emizon infra structure and operation.

After the initial introduction from Geoff Girdler the CEO of Emizon, Peter Ferris the General Manager of Technology and Planning for Optus, created a large amount of interest with Optus' Fibre rollout plans.  Peter detailed Optus' and Telstra's plan to rollout Fibre to the Node and/or Fibre to the Curb.

The effect of this fibre rollout was seen as a major warning of pending problems or opportunities (depending on whether you are an Optimist or Pessimist).

The telcos will roll out fibre to the node and will mean the closure of up to 4000 telephone exchanges and replaced by 5 pairs of Soft Switches (one pair each state). The major migration commencing FY2008/2009.

So what !  .... what does this mean to the security industry?

Both Telcos are warning that large numbers of customers on diallers could be effected by the VOIP rollout.  What are the problems or symptoms....

You're probably seeing the symptoms already....

A customer goes onto ADSL or Cable ...dialler stops working or has high error rates ??

Large increase in the customers phone bill.

Larger number of runaway diallers.

Increase in the number of missed test calls.

Imagine what will happen when the telcos convert everyone to Cable or Fibre or ADSL with VOIP.....

Need more evidence... Take a look at reports from other sites warning of the same problem.

This will take its toll on the "1345 Heroin" as some are calling it. The 1345 game could be coming to an end.

Diallers may need to be converted to other forms of communications when you discover that the dialler doesn't work over VOIP.

The alternative reporting options or solutions available are...  report via GPRS (Wireless), Ethernet (Wired) or Both.

From feedback from users, current offerings of "GPRS only" have intrinsic reliability issues.  But add two technologies together (like a dual technology detector) ... you get an increase in both stability and performance ...being the best of both.   Put this together with unbeatable interface and network pricing and you get.... Emizon's Global 21 solution..

... you see now why after 20+ years in business MCM has selected and partnered with what we consider to be "the best and most cost effective solution available in the world" .... Emizon's Global 21 solution..

The Emizon Solution....

Emizon's Global 21 system is a dual path Secure Managed Messaging Service that is high security, super competitive and an easy to install solution..

The interface or TCD connects to virtually any panel on the market via Serial protocol or Contact ID.  The MCMTCD has the same connections as MCM's serial Securitel STUs making it a drop in replacement for a STU.

Since the Australasian launch, Global 21 has already proved its worth for residential and business customers across the region, with over 1000 units now in distribution in Australia, and is currently undergoing trials with a number of major banks and corporates.  It has also been adopted by a number of Monitoring Centres, with CAGE Security, BENS Wholesale Monitoring, SNP Security, Security Network Australia, RMS Security, joining Central Monitoring Services, and more to go live imminently.

Rob Pennefather, Managing Director of CAGE Security explains his decision to select Emizon, “Being an installer and a monitoring service provider we had to be very careful with the product we chose as a Securitel replacement.  We carefully surveyed the market and determined that the Emizon's dual-path IP monitoring solution was the most cost effective and simple to install product.”

With Telstra’s announcement to cease the Securitel service there has been some uncertainty in the market, which offers the perfect opportunity to provide a service, already well-proven in other parts of the world.  The Emizon solution is the most independently tested and approved solution in Europe.

Many of the current offerings are GPRS only with intrinsic reliability issues;  Emizon’s Global 21, however, is managed on both wired and wireless paths giving unrivalled resilience.

“Emizon’s Global 21, combined with the skill and expertise of its manufacturing partners is the perfect replacement for Securitel and other communications methods,” says Geoff Girdler, CEO Emizon Group.

The product will be backed by a 24-hour helpdesk, and full support from industry interface leader MCM Electronics for the hardware. The innovative technology is able to provide communications to the panel via Contact ID and MCM Securitel (SIP) protocol, with software that can be updated at the touch of a button.

One button commissioning....  Do you have a finger ??   ..then you can commission an MCM TCD.

MCM's Emizon Global 21 IP solution will solve compliance to the new standard, give an extremely cost effective alternative to those GPRS or GSM only solutions...

In developing new solutions to meet these revised standards MCM has kept in mind that these new products (mainly IP based) will be sold into an industry that is not "IP savvy".  Most alarm companies have only a few IP Gurus (one if you're lucky) that can sort out networking problems.
