Newsletter May 2009
It is our understanding that in order for all the current Securitel connections to be converted off the Securitel network, there needs to be over 500 STUs per week converted to alternative technologies.
I will predict….1000s of STUs will not be converted by the 31st December 2009 when Telstra shuts off the Securitel network. Don’t kid yourself… IT WILL HAPPEN
We have been advised recently by Telstra that they have scheduled and placed orders for the removal of the Hosts and Scanners in the exchanges to be carried out in the first week of January 2010.
Do you have a plan in place? I don’t think there will be enough manpower available to convert these customers as the progress of the conversion is very slow (according to Telstra)…

The Emizon Solution.... As many of you are aware, MCM Electronics partnered with Emizon over 12 months ago. Since that time Emizon, together with MCM, have achieved many major milestones to advance the Security industry.
Emizon has used the same Independent test body as used by Telstra in certifying its products. These tests were carried out compliant with the AS/NZS2201.5:2008. This requires testing to be done by “a competent, independent third party that is recognized by an established security industry association or which complies with AS ISO/IEC 17025.”

Securitel Rates UP 20% We have been advised that Telstra will be increasing their Securitel rates by 20% on 1st April 2009. This is obviously to add pressure to have customers migrate to an alternative technology before the closure in December 2009.
Are dialers already dead ? It will be interesting to see what the telcos come up with now that FTTN (Fibre to the node) has now been replaced with FTTH (Fibre to the Home). With existing problems already being experienced due to Naked DSL and Virgins/Optus wireless broadband, the security industry is going to have their work cut out trying to keep up with the changes being thrusted upon us by the telco's.
